Dr. Poonam Jain

A graduate from  Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi and  postgraduate  (MS Ophthalmology) from Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, Dr. Poonam Jain has been a meritorious student throughout.  A recipient of National Talent Search Scholarship and Open Merit Scholarship, she was a merit list position holder in high school.   

Dr. Poonam underwent rigorous surgical training in the Department of Ophthalmology at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, one of the busiest tertiary care public hospitals in Delhi. As a senior resident , she gained extensive experience in treating eye diseases like cataract , glaucoma, squint and disorders of retina besides managing periocular trauma, chemical burns and ocular surface diseases . She developed special interest in the field of Oculoplasty and gained proficiency in performing surgeries like Ptosis correction, Eyelid reconstructions, DCR & other lacrimal procedures, Socket reconstruction and orbital procedures.

Later, she went for a fellowship in Aesthetic Oculoplasty to the prestigious Barraquer Institute, Barcelona, Spain and learned latest techniques of periocular rejuvenation . She has the honour of organising the very first international live surgery workshop in Delhi in 2005 , with live surgical demonstration of upper and lower ( transconjunctival) blepharoplasty by international faculty . She performed live demonstration of dermal fillers and Botulinum toxin injections and was among the first few to embrace the emerging modality.

She has kept herself updated and abreast of newer developments by visiting  renowned centres internationally, such as the Wilmer Eye Institute, John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA.

She also completed a hands-on workshop in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery at Maryland Aesthetic & Reconstructive ASC at Baltimore, USA with Dr Darab Hormozi and learnt advanced facial rejuvenation techniques like Fat Transfer , Mini face lift, Brow lift ,Mid face lift etc.

With nearly three decades of experience in private practice, Dr Poonam has worked as a consultant in various reputed hospitals in North Delhi . She was a senior consultant at Centre for Sight before starting her own eye hospital named Namokar Eye & Oculoplasty Centre equipped with state of art facilities and accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Quality Council of India. Currently she is also Chief, Oculoplasty services at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, Sant Parmanand Hospital & Narang Eye Institute.

Focused on the eye and face, Dr. Poonam Jain is considered to be one of the safest, most experienced eye and face rejuvenation experts. She performs Aesthetic procedures like Blepharoplasty , Brow lift , Midface lift and Ptosis correction with finesse for periocular rejuvenation, giving most  natural looking results.

A well known name in the field of Oculoplasty ,Dr. Poonam Jain is an invited faculty at national and international conferences. She has delivered lectures and conducted several instruction courses and skill transfer courses with live demonstration of Botulinum toxin and Fillers and has more than 100 presentations as faculty to her credit.

Dr.  Poonam  has served as a member of the Executive Council of Oculoplasty Association of India , as a member of the editorial board of Delhi Ophthalmological Society , has contributed articles and has been a reviewer for Oculoplasty articles for Delhi Journal of Ophthalmology. Her mantra in life is to work with passion and compassion.
